Dear valued customers and friends,
After 20 incredible years in the Saskatoon berry business, my wife Marsha and I have decided to hang up our berry-picking hats and retire.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to have shared our passion for these delicious and nutritious berries with you all. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our loyal customers and friends who have supported us throughout the years. We could not have done it without you! It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you, and we will cherish the memories we have made together. Thank you for your patronage, your kindness, and your friendship. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to our beloved farm, but we’re excited for the next chapter in our lives.
As a result of our decision to retire, our U-pick will not be opening this coming summer, nor will we be attending our usual farmers markets either. It also means our commercial kitchen will be shutting down, so our ability to supply our value-added products like our pies, jams, juice and syrup and sauces will be limited to what we have in our current inventory. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. Before that happens though, you can continue to order these products off of our website till we run out of inventory, or check with our retailers if they still have stock.
However, it’s important to note that we’re not disappearing completely! Our frozen berries will continue to be available for quite some time to come as we have a significant inventory of frozen fruit in cold storage in Calgary. You will be able to find our saskatoon berries at all Calgary Coop stores as well as Freson Bros stores in Alberta. And as we mentioned quite some time ago, we are excited that more and more Sobeys, Safeway, and IGA stores in Alberta are now carrying our berries too!
We understand that all of this news may be disappointing for some of you, but it’s time for us to move on with the next chapter of our lives. We hope that you will continue to enjoy our delicious berries for some time to come.
As part of the wind-down of our business, we will be auctioning off all of our orchard, harvesting & cleaning equipment, freezers, coolers, along with our commercial kitchen building and all the kitchen equipment as well as our cute little on-farm store building and fixtures. Should you be interested in any of these items, we have hired Rosehill Auction Service Ltd out of Olds, Alberta to conduct the online sale of our farm assets. The sale will be held online from May13-15, 2024. They will have some preliminary information posted in the coming days, with full details being posted later in April. Their website is: https://www.oldsauction.com
As we bid adieu to the Saskatoon berry business, we want to once again express our deepest appreciation to all our loyal customers who have supported us throughout the years. Your love for our berries and our products has been immensely satisfying to us and made us proud to grow this wonderful berry. We’ll cherish the memories made and the berry-filled smiles we’ve shared.
Thank you again for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Rick & Marsha Gelowitz

So well deserved. You both have worked so hard at this business for so many years, with Rick working in oil and gas, by day and Solstice every other hour available. Marsha not only held down the fort and managed the business while Rick was at his day job, she made the most amazingly delicious pies! A true power couple. I cant imagine how anyone else can fill your shoes, especially with your commitment and dedication to your business and customers. You have gone out of your way for Bud and I for so many years, so often. We are so appreciative of your kindness and generosity. So ….. do you have anymore of those pies in the freezer, were down to only one more.. Please let us know!! May your retirement be full of fun adventures and lots of time basking on the beaches of Maui, cocktail in hand. Big hugs! Carol and Bud.Sage
Thank you for your kind words Carol! We have had a lot of fun over the years building up our humble little berry business and now we are looking forward to starting the next chapter (wherever that may lead us). We have very much appreciated your business and generous support. We do have some inventory left for most of our processed products (yes, we still have Saskatoon pies!), although we are out of inventory on a couple things. Everything that is in stock can still be ordered through our website store. We still have a really good inventory of our frozen berries, so they will continue to be available for a while yet. They will be available either through us directly via our online store, or they can be found at all Calgary Coop stores as well as some Safeway, Sobeys, and IGA stores through out Alberta. All the best to you and Bud. Cheers!
